Selfridges

Emphasising the ethos that "shopping should be fun", the founder of Selfridges, US entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge, defined that the shop should have a hands-on, theatrical image and which has endured since its opening in 1909. Selfridges has often used unusual exhibits to attract and amaze customers, e.g. John Logie Baird carried out his first public demonstration of television from the first floor of the store in 1925, and it was in Selfridges that almost 12,000 people viewed the monoplane used to complete the first cross-Channel flight. Selfridge’s tradition for unique displays and unusual exhibitions continues to this day. Selfridges' window displays always attract plenty of interest and are often controversial. With countless retailers, a number of first class restaurants all under one roof make Selfridges, understandably, make it the only place to shop on Oxford Street.

Carluccio's

Carluccio's, is the Italian chain from the loveable TV chef, Antonio Carluccio. Located in Covent Garden this Italian store comprises of two floors of good, fresh food. As well as the main restaurant there's also a deli selling wonderful Italian produce and two cafe areas offering a taste of superior Italian cooking. Carluccio’s is an expensive place to dine and even shop, so it no surprise that many of its outlets cater for an upmarket crowd.  If you're looking for a hotel in Covent Garden why not browse our site and see what offers we have available.
